Max is busy recovering in the revalidation clinic. Thanks to an electric wheelchair Max has become a little more mobile and he is able to enjoy some social activities outside the revalidation clinic once in a while. Unfortunately he hasn’t recovered enough to start working with the prostheses yet. Max likes to receive mail, email or visitors. Today Max has been moved to the revalidation clinic. Unfortunately he can’t welcome visitors during the day, because of a busy revalidation program. Hopefully we’ll manage to fill in the evening program. Please contact us if you like to visit Max.
4th of September 2009
Early this morning Max landed at Schiphol Airport, The Netherlands. With guidance of a doctor and a nurse of SOS International, Max has been transferred to The Netherlands. After arrival, Max was immediately moved to a hospital for further medical treatment and recovery.
20th of August 2009
Max is no longer in a life threatening situation. He has been moved from the ‘intensive care’ ward to the ‘high care’-department of the hospital in Singapore. The acute mortal danger is past and the situation is continuously progressing, but he still has a very long way to go.
20th of July 2009
After 3 days Max has been transferred from a hospital in Jakarta to a hospital in Singapore. The medical care in Singapore is much better than in Jakarta.
In this hospital he has been operated several times. Both his legs have been amputated, his right arm has been broken at several places and his muscles and nerves are damaged severely. 60% of his body has been burned and there are several bomb shards in his body. One of this shards has hit the hart muscle and has to be removed during a future operation. Currently the shard hasn’t caused any immediate danger, but the situation could become dangerous if it moves.
17th of July 2009
The 17th of July 2009 Max Boon gets seriously injured by a bombing in the Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.
That day he was having a meeting with business relations in the hotel. At 7:50 AM a bomb exploded in the meeting room of the hotel, where Max and his company were at that moment. Three persons of the group died and others got seriously injured, like Max.
With urgency Max is hospitalized in Jakarta.
